RoadMates.ca – Driver Community Platform Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using RoadMates.ca (the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), our Privacy Policy, and any applicable Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
2. Purpose of the Platform
RoadMates.ca provides an online community for rideshare and delivery drivers to:
- Share experiences, insights, and general information
- Discuss topics related to driving, earnings, safety, and platform changes
- Access advertisements, promotions, and third-party offers relevant to drivers
RoadMates.ca is an independent community platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, SkipTheDishes, or any other rideshare or delivery company.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
- By using the Platform, you represent that your use complies with all applicable laws in Canada and the Province of British Columbia.
4. Account Registration and Security
- Certain features may require account registration.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activities conducted under your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms.
5. User Content
5.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of all content you submit, post, or share on the Platform (“User Content”).
5.2 License to RoadMates.ca
By posting User Content, you grant RoadMates.ca a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute such content for the operation, promotion, and improvement of the Platform.
5.3 Accuracy and Reliance
- User Content reflects personal opinions and experiences.
- Content on the Platform does not constitute professional, legal, tax, insurance, or safety advice.
- You assume all risk for decisions made based on information obtained through the Platform.
6. Advertising, Promotions, and Sponsored Content
- The Platform may display advertisements, sponsored posts, affiliate links, or promotional offers.
- Advertisers and sponsors are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of their content.
- RoadMates.ca does not endorse or guarantee any advertised products or services.
- Any transactions or interactions with advertisers occur strictly between you and the third party.
- We reserve the right to remove or refuse ads or promotions at our discretion.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or deceptive information.
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate against others.
- Share hate speech, explicit material, or violent content.
- Post personal, confidential, or identifying information of riders, drivers, or third parties (including names, addresses, phone numbers, license plates, or unredacted screenshots).
- Promote illegal, unsafe, or fraudulent activities.
- Post unauthorized advertisements, referral abuse, or spam.
- Impersonate any individual or misrepresent affiliation with any company.
8. Safety and Liability Disclaimer
- RoadMates.ca does not provide driving instructions, legal guidance, tax advice, or insurance advice.
- Participation in discussions or reliance on content is at your own risk.
- We are not responsible for accidents, injuries, losses, deactivations, penalties, or disputes arising from your activities.
9. Moderation and Enforcement
- We may monitor, review, edit, or remove User Content at our discretion.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts for repeated or serious violations.
- Moderation decisions are final and made to protect community integrity.
10. Intellectual Property
All Platform content, excluding User Content, including trademarks, logos, branding, layout, and software, is owned by or licensed to RoadMates.ca and protected under Canadian intellectual property laws.
11. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links or references to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.
12. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of the Platform is governed by our Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA – British Columbia) and PIPEDA, where applicable.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or harm the community.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, RoadMates.ca shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RoadMates.ca, its owners, administrators, and affiliates from any claims or damages resulting from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.
17. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
